Theseus and the minotaur
Last term we went back in time to Ancient Greece and studied the story of Theseus and the Minotaur. This became a child led initiative as they loved the story and became fascinated by the detail of the story.
We looked at how a maze works and created directions to get us out of the maze before the Minotaur got us.

We also built a giant maze in our classroom and led our friends through the maze blindfolded. This led to some hilarious moments as we tried to use our hands and point which way to go rather than tell our friends. We did have a few near crashes into the wall as we forgot that our friends couldn’t see.

The topic about Theseus and the Minotaur came to a fabulous end with the creation of our play. This was written by the children themselves – a nurture twist on an ancient tale. The children worked hard thinking about how each scene should be – giving Mrs Hills a list of demands in terms of props and costumes. It was a brilliant performance which lots of energy and maybe more laughs than intended but hey......
